Farewell

All good things come to an end. This is the case for my Explore program in Winnipeg, unfortunately. I shall keep good memories of this trip. I think I've made a good choice to decide to subscribe to the explore program. I had an enjoyable time here, in Winnipeg. Maybe many people think Winnipeg is a boring city, but with only a month to try to discover all of the attractions of the city, you'll find it is a pretty exciting city. The city you visit is what made your trip amazing, it is what you do. I think it is important to explore other cultures, even in the country. I consider the Explore program is all about that, explore...

Last workshop!

bye bye :(

Hello fellows,
unfortunately, this is already the time to say goodbye to our teachers, some of us sooner than the others...(Sharon, we miss you!) and also goodbye to our marvellous animators! ;-)
On the other hand, we will have a wonderfull trip and then we will GO BACK HOME!!!
But we will bring back all those wonderfull memories with us, and, don't forget all our funny pictures!! :D Plus, there is facebook and msn!
So, we will stay in touch!
bye bye and see you!

Explore Friends !

This experience was great mostly because of the people I've met here. When you are 24/7 with the same people, even if it's only for a month, it's surprising how well you know them at the end. One thing is for sure, we had a lot of fun together, especially in the residence. It's cool that Facebook and Msn exist, so we can keep in touch very easily. We already plan to meet each other someday after Explore... We all live in Quebec after all! :):):)

Goodbye!

It's almost the end. We're done! We've spent aboud 5 weeks here and it passed very fast. I'm happy to have been here because of the weather. I heard that this summer in Quebec is one of the worst we've had since a long time. I will tease my friends and family by telling them how it was sunny in Winnipeg all the time. This is my last post and it's ok like that because I have nothing more to say. I had a great time here and I don't regret comming here. I met many nice persons that I will keep in touch with. Viva Facebook!
That's it.
Bye!!!

If you like music or dancing, go to the cabaret and enjoy the work of these artists. If you prefer the theater don't be sad ! There is a theater representation too ! So, everyone will be happy on saturday night ! Get out of your room and run until the location of these activities.

Chinatown

This Summer I took a vacation to Winnipeg City. It s a governmental program. I got on a plane. I couldn t believe my eyes when I saw Assiniboine park zoo. I took so many pictures. On vacation, I never stayed in my room. When I went to Chinatown i m so horrified. Chinatown it three street.

The Trip to Banff

When I saw the information go to Banff, I began to look at all the information that helps me find this place. After seeing the great landscape and beautifull montains, I knew that this will be a good opportunity for me.

I know it's a little expensive for me, but I love to travel and this occasion will be good to discover others provinces and others cultures. Specially, when you live in Montreal. I hope that experience will be fantastic for everyone.

Banff!!!

Hello fellows!
Ready to go to Banff? I am! I have never went before and I can't wait to see the wonderfull landscapes, the MOUNTAINS, and all that CLEAN water... I am also really looking forward to go to the hot springs! What a great thing! Swimming without dead bugs all around! It will also be nice to think that we will have to spend the whole days with our friends, even if we are not in the same level, because there will be no levels!
Of course there are many hours of busses to do, but when we will get back, I am sure we will think it was worthwhile! Furthermore, we will flight back home just after the bus ride, so we will be very glad to be back home!!
so, see you!

Cheez (Cheese for Heather) Macaroni

As a lunch today we had cheese macaroni. It was good even some people were complaining. With a bit of salt and pepper it became the best meal ever eat. It was good to eat pasta! You know, little things that expend in the water? It's like to see children growing up... Sometimes, there is things that deserve more than what they get.
I think I just wrote sentences which don't have sens. It's because my mind is wandering around.
Did you notice that the temperature is really unstable in the cafeteria? That's a fact!

Universityof Manitoba Summer Explore 'O9 Superlatives

Soon there will be people that will go into your class and they will ask you to vote for the other Xplore students that YOU think they represent the most each categories. The categories are; -Most Athletic, Class Clown, The one Who Gets Lost the Most, Most outgoing, Most Likely to Suceed. So, sleep on it, and good luck to everyone.

A**HOLE - the game (for Heather)

The rules

The a**hole game is a card game. The goal is to finish first. How to do that? Put all the cards you have out of your hands. There's the value of the cards:
  • The best card is the joker
  • The 2 is the second best card
  • Then, it follows the normal order of the importance of the cards; ace, king, queen, jack, 10, 9, etc.

You can have pairs, three of a kind, four of a kind or only one card. When somebody puts a card, you need to put a higher one. You can only play in a round once, if you can. If you have a 2, you can put it on a pair or only one card. For three and four of a kind, you need two 2. If you got a joker, you only need to put one on all the possibilities of cards.

If you are the asshole, you can "burn" a card by putting the same card as the last person did.

Finally, you have roles. The scales goes like this:

  • the president
  • the vice-president*
  • the secretary
  • the janitor*
  • the a**hole

*If your are only three, you can skip those roles.

For choosing your roles, at the beginning you pick a card, the one who got the highest is the president and vice versa. Then, the president has three choices of two cards before the a**hole distribute the cards. The vice-president has three choices of one card. After the cards are all given, the a**hole gives to the president his two best cards. The president gives to the a**hole his two worst cards. The vice-president gives his worst card to the janitor. And the janitor gives his best card to the vice-president.

Now, you should be good to understand a game of a**hole!

Banff

The activity that I am waiting for a long time is of course Banff. We have to leave on the august 13 th and we will come back the 18 th . When I will be there I want to live it up because when I will come back home I will start school. I am sure it will be a great experience and all the mountain will take my breath away. I think I will stick my neck out and I will do rafting.

Banff trip!

On August 13th, I'll go to Banff with some of the explore students for almost 4 days!! I'm really excited about this trip! I've never been to Banff before this trip but some of friends have already been there and they've said that it's such a beautiful place!! I'm looking forward to see the landscapes.. this is going to take my breath away for sure!!! Also, I want to do some activities like the rafting or the horse-back riding!

I think that this trip will be unforgettable because firstly we're going to have a blast in this beautiful place and secondly because it's going to be the last time that we'll all be together before leaving in our own hometown..!

Banfffffff

I would love going on the trip to Banff, but I can't because my classes begin on august 20th :( However, I know many people who went there, and they all said that it's the best place on Earth! If I would attend this trip, I would for sure swim in the hotsprings because it's something you can't do in Manitoba, let alone (haha) in Quebec. There are so many things you can do and see around Banff, it can be hard to choose between all these activities. You can swim at Johnson Lake or ride your bike down Vermilion Lakes Road... I think it's the perfect place for someone who likes outdoor ! It will be so different, after 4 weeks and a half here! Have a nice trip :)

Barbecue with Explorer Familys

On holiday Monday I stayed in the University.
The Explorer Family had a barbecue in Arthur Mauro Residence. All the people brought a little bit of food and we were dividing it up. The children played together all the day. We were dancing to Colombien Music because Martha and her family had a Cd player which plays this kind of music. We spend all the day in the barbecue and after we took a coffee in the kitchen of the building and played until 9 p.m.
It were a funny day.

Little things make true happiness

The Goldeyes won the game yesterday, at least I know that. Baseball isn't a really exciting game in my opinion, but the fireworks at the end were impressive!! It was worth it! I mean, it looks like we waited the whole game, in that case more than two hours, just to see these fireworks! Just kidding! We had a great time, maybe because we had more opportunities to scream during the baseball game than during the Blue Bombers' football game... let's not talk about it. Yesterday, the mascot was ridiculous, the game was not attractive, the slushie was expensive but good, people were participating to the waves (is it the right word in English?) that we were doing, we took pictures, pictures and pictures to kill some time, we shook our Goldeyes' towels in the air...

Don't think I am sarcastic, because it's the little things that make true happiness.

Holiday

On Monday, there were a Civic Day. I was really happy because I love to learn and to see new things from other country or on this case, new province. I went to eat at the Pancake House with my homestay mother and her daughter, it was really great. I think I learn more when I am with my homestay family then in classes because we are with some French friends. The Pancake House is really great, I ate the Giant Apple, the tradition of this restaurant, it is really good. After, we went to the Manitoba Museum, the gallery, it is very interesting. We saw habits of inuit, what they wear, a little bit of Manitoba history from the 19th century, etc. We also went to the planetarium to see two different shows, Galileo Live, that was kind of interesting and really easy to understand. I also saw the stars of Manitoba, I did not understand everything that the guy said because he was talking very fast. I learn a lot on that day on Manitoba, on my homestay family and I speak a lot in English!

That day will be a good memory for me

Dream Vacation

This summer, my mother took a vacation with me, to go to Mexico. We were on vacation. Me and my mother got on a big plane. During the long time in Mexico, I took many beautiful pictures. My mother looked at the big dog and the little cat on the beach. I didn t believe my eyes, beacause it was always rainning and the weather was very cold. After two weeks, I went back to Quebec with my mother.
